Two Hundred Years From Now

This morning, I helped my grandmother sort through 60 years worth of family pictures. I got sentimental and this poem just came to my heart.

Two Hundred Years From Now

Today I contemplate,
What will life be like
Two hundred years from this date?

Will I be just a name?
A crumpled up photo,
In a broken picture frame?

A broken grave stone,
Forgotten and lost
Remembered by none?

All my things antiques?
Rotting in a museum,
Waiting for the viewers critique?

I am reminded nothing lasts,
Like a heartbeat,
Or a rock thrown at glass.

Song Lyric Sunday: Francesca Battistelli - This Is The Stuff

This Week's Song Lyric Sunday is Francesca Battistelli - This Is The Stuff.

This Is The Stuff

lost my keys in the great unknown

And call me please 'Cuz I can't find my phone

This is the stuff that drives me crazy

This is the stuff that's getting to me lately

In the middle of my little mess

I forget how big I'm blessed

This is the stuff that gets under my skin

But I gotta trust You know exactly what You're doing

It might not be what I would choose

But this is the stuff You use

45 in a 35

Sirens and fines while I'm running behind

Whoa

This is the stuff that drives me crazy

This is the stuff that's getting to me lately

In the middle of my little mess

I forget how big I'm blessed

This is the stuff that gets under my skin

But I gotta trust You know exactly what You're doing

It might not be what I would choose

But this is the stuff You use

So break me of impatience

Conquer my frustrations

I've got a new appreciation

It's not the end of the world

Oh Oh Oh

This is the stuff that drives me crazy

This is the stuff

Someone save me

In the middle of my little mess

I forget how big I'm blessed

This is the stuff that gets under my skin

And I've gotta trust You know exactly what You're doing

It might not be what I would choose

But this is the stuff You use

Oh Oh Oh Oh

This is the stuff You use

Song Lyric Sunday: Get Up By Superchic[k]

This week's Song Lyric Sunday is Get Up, by my favorite band Superchic[k].

Get Up

I'm not afraid to fall
It means I climbed up high
To fall is not to fail
You fail when you dont try
I'm not afraid to fall
I might just learn to fly
And I will spread these wings of mine

If I get up I might fall back down again
so lets get up C'mon
If I get up I might fall back down again
We get up anyway
If I get up I might fall back down again
so lets get up C'mon
If Iget up I might fall back down again
And I might fall back down again
And well just jump and see
Even if its the 20th time
We'll just jump and see if we can fly

I'm not afraid to fall
And here I told you so
Don't want to rock the boat
But I just had to know
Just a greener side
Or can I touch the sky
But either way I will try

If I get up I might fall abck down again
So lets get up C'mon
If I get up I might fall back down again
We get up anyway
If I get up I might fall back down again
so lets get up C'mon
If I get up I might fall back down again
and I might fall abck down again
And we'll just jump and see
Even if its the 30th time
We'll just jump and see if we can fly

I'm not afraid to fall
I've fallen many times
They laughed when I fell down
But I dared to climb
I'm not afraid to fall
I know i'll fall again
But I can win this in the end

If I get up I might fall back down again
So lets get up C'mon
If I get up I might fall back down again
We get up anyway
If I get up I might fall back down again
So lets get up C'mon
If I get up I might fall back down again
and we'll just jump and see
Even if its the 40th time
We'll just jump and see if we can fly

If I get up I might fall back down again
so lets get up C'mon
If I get up I might fall abck down again
We get up anyway
If I get up I might fall back down again
So lets get up C'mon
If I get up I might fall down again
And I might fall back down again

Hunger Games Inspired Pictures

Hey Everyone, My friend Abbey came over and as the Hunger Games fans we are, took some pictures inspired by the Hunger Games. She was Katniss and I was Rue.

"You know, they're not the only ones who can form alliances," I say.
For a moment, no response. The one of Rue's eyes edges around the trunk. "You want me for an ally?"
                              (Refferance http://www.shmoop.com/hunger-games/competition-quotes.html)

Abbey as Katniss
"Prim!" The strangled cry comes out of my throat, and my muscles begin to move again. "Prim!" I don't need to shove through the crowd. The other kids make way immediately allowing me a straight path to the stage. I reach her just as she is about to mount the steps. With one sweep of my arm, I push her behind me.
"I volunteer!" I gasp. "I volunteer as tribute!"
   (Reference http://www.shmoop.com/hunger-games/sacrifice-quotes.html)

Sammie (Me) as Rue
"And most hauntingly, a twelve-year-old girl from District 11. She has dark brown skin and eyes, but other than that, she's very like Prim in size and demeanor."
―Katniss Everdeen, while watching Rue's reaping
(Reference http://thehungergames.wikia.com/wiki/Rue)

Searching The Forest

"What Was That?"

Cutting At A Tracker Jacker's Nest.
"The Careers have two pairs. But they've got everything down by the lake," Rue says. "And they're so strong."
"We're strong, too," I say. "Just in a different way."
"You are. You can shoot," she says. "What can I do?"
"You can feed yourself. Can they?" I ask.
"They don't need to. They have all those supplies," Rue says.
"Say they didn't. Say the supplies were gone. How long would they last?" I say. "I mean, it's the Hunger Games, right?" (Reference http://www.shmoop.com/hunger-games/strength-skill-quotes.html)
I want to do something, right here, right now, to shame them, to make them accountable, to show the Capitol that whatever they do or force us to do that there is a part of every tribute they can’t own. That Rue was more than a piece in their Games. And so am I.
A few steps into the woods grows a bank of wildflowers. Perhaps they are really weeds of some sort, but they have blossoms in beautiful shades of violet and yellow and white. I gather up an armful and come back to Rue’s side. Slowly, one stem at a time, I decorate her body in the flowers. Covering the ugly wound. Wreathing her face. Weaving her hair with bright colors. (Refferance http://www.shmoop.com/hunger-games/power-quotes.html)

I really think I stand a chance of doing it now. Winning. It's not just having the arrows or outsmarting the Careers a few times, although those things help. Something happened when I was holding Rue's hand, watching the life drain out of her. Now I am determined to avenge her, to make her loss unforgettable, and I can only do that by winning and thereby making myself unforgettable. - (Reference http://www.shmoop.com/hunger-games/strength-skill-quoutes.)

Saint Patricks Day Traditions

Happy Saint Patty's day everyone. Today I have changed from Little Red to Little Green.
Saint Patricks Day is a long celebrated tradition. Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. He brought Christianity to Ireland and he is most famous for his teachings with the shamrock. He used it to teach that God is three in one, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. The same is for the Shamrock, three leaves one stem. Saint Patrick's day celebrates the annviversary of his death. Today it is celebrated with wearing green and searching for Leprechauns.
In our home we celebrate Saint Patrick's Day by also wearing green and eating Irish stew. As we are older, some of the magic has been lost, but I still remember some of the things we used to do.

In the mornings we used to eat Green Eggs and Ham while reading the book Green Eggs and Ham. Later we would make homemade
and

I always enjoyed Saint Patricks day and I still enjoy remembering the fun we had.
I hope your Saint Patricks day is just as much fun as mine was.

Book Review: City Of Bones

My first book review! Yay!
My friend Abbey lent me the book, City Of Bones. It was an immense thriller with a fun and provocative edge to it. I enjoyed it immensely.
Clary, a 15 year old living in New york has a normal life. The only thing abnormal about it is the fact she has never had a father and the only remnants of him are the ones her mother keeps in a chest marked JC. This has always puzzled her. Yet it never keeps her away from going to the Pandemonium club with her best friend, Simon. One night she spots an attractive blue haired boy. She watches him all night until he disappears with a tall dark haired beauty into one of the back rooms. It all seems normal until to other boys enter carrying weapons. She tells Simon to call the police as she runs in. She soon believes that she witnessed the murder of the boy in blue hair.
The next night she goes off with Simon for the night to a poetry reading. There she meets the blond boy, Jace again. He threatens to take her back with him because she is the only person who can see him and it is something Jace's mentor, Hodge would like to know more about. She refuses, coming home to find her home ransacked by demons and one is still there. She tries fighting it off and somehow kills it. Why are these demons interested in her, and how is she seeing these things?
I loved this book and cannot wait to read the rest of the series. I wouldn't recommend it for younger readers. I would recommend it for 14+, any younger and they may not get most of the story line.
This was an amazing book and I hope you enjoy it as well!
